HEAD OF SCHOOL & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: 
Bethany’s love for learning and desire to create opportunities in her community led her to form the steering committee that founded Hillside Montessori of LaGrange in 2011.
Bethany holds a B.A. in English and M.A. in Teaching from LaGrange College and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership from Harvard University’s Graduate Schools of Business and Education. She earned her Montessori credential from North American Montessori center. She is a graduate of the 2018 Leadership Troup class and 2022 cohort of West Ga Health Insiders. She was recognized as one of LaGrange’s Top 20 under 40 in the program’s inaugural year. Bethany has served on the Advisory Committee for Chattahoochee Riverkeeper/WPL Floating Classroom and on the Executive Board of Directors for the Lafayette Society for Performing Arts. In 2026 she joined the LaGrange College Leadership Council.
She is the mother of four fantastic children (two who are already adults), all current or former Montessori students, and is married to Jack Slay, Jr., the world’s best writer of quirky, Southern ghost stories. Food, books, art, and outdoor adventures fill her free time.
