Hazel Cromer joined Hillside Montessori in August 2026 as the part‑time Math Instructor for the adolescent program. She is excited to join the Montessori school community and looks forward to helping students feel engaged, confident, and enthusiastic about Algebra. She holds a B.S.Ed. in P–5 Education but also previously studied Zoology at UGA, working in the veterinary medicine field. Over the past 28 years, Hazel has taught in public, private, homeschool, co‑op, online, and tutoring environments.
Hazel’s greatest joy is her faith and her family. She is married to Steve Cromer of West Georgia Technical College, and together they proudly support their son, Garrett, a college junior and competitive collegiate angler. Most weekends, Hazel and Steve can be found traveling across the country for Garrett’s fishing tournaments.
She currently tutors learners from elementary levels through advanced Algebra 1 locally, in-person, and online. Hazel is passionate about designing hands‑on, skill‑building lessons for all ages. For various field trip venues, Hazel develops customized field‑trip lesson plans aligned with grade‑level standards and also creates interactive classroom materials—including digital board games, PowerPoint activities/lessons/games, and whole‑grade challenges such as creating her Multiplication Space Race, a grade level schoolwide event featuring rocket launches and space‑themed learning centers.
Hazel’s personal passions include traveling and exploring new places, beach trips, watching dolphins, shelling, touring lighthouses, and photographing wildlife and macrophotography.
