Hillside’s summer program embraces the Montessori philosophy of education with activities suited for the summer months. We focus on fostering independence, creativity, and hands-on learning in an engaging and fun environment.

Our Summer Program Features:

Hands-On Learning: Just like in our regular Montessori classrooms, summer programs emphasize experiential, hands-on learning. Children will explore nature, engage in art projects, learn practical life skills, and work with materials that help develop cognitive and motor skills.

Thematic Focus: Our camp weeks are built around particular themes, such as nature exploration, the arts, world cultures, foreign languages, or scientific discovery. These themes guide learning and activities over the course of the program.

Outdoor Activities: Hillside emphasizes the importance of connecting with nature. Our summer program includes outdoor exploration, gardening, water play, or nature walks, helping children build a sense of responsibility and a connection to the environment.

Creative Arts: Students will enjoy being creative through painting, drawing, music, and drama, allowing children to express themselves creatively and develop their fine motor skills.

Social and Emotional Development: Just like during the school year, the summer program encourages children to practice social skills like cooperation, empathy, and conflict resolution. Group activities may help children learn to work together while respecting one another’s space and individuality.

Multi-sensory Learning: Montessori programs often use a multi-sensory approach to learning, engaging children’s senses through activities like cooking, gardening, or working with tactile materials. This helps deepen understanding and retention.

Focus on Independence: In line with Montessori’s overall philosophy, our summer program places a strong emphasis on helping children become more independent and self-reliant.
